The Hobbit

Right now in the book I am at the part where Gandolf takes everyone to see a man that can change into a bear. They have to search for him, and when they reach his house there are only nine of them present. They introduce themselves, and now Gandolf is telling Beorn (The man/bear) about their journey so far. That's all I remember from this chapter so far.

Mary Oliver

While reading the Mary Oliver poems I thought about how descriptive she is in her writing, explaining in great detail, painting a scene for you to see. Maybe she did this on purpose, or she does it naturally. My favorite one that I read today was titled "Mockingbirds" It was different from something I would normally read. Most people write about love or depression. Or both in the same one. This in it's way was about love, but it wasn't for a companion, it was for the Gods. "to two strangers who were,it soon appeared, not men at all,but gods.It is my favorite story--how the old couple had almost nothing to give but their willingness to be attentive--but for this alone the gods loved them"

From the same poem (Mockingbirds), my favorite part was ..."Wherever it was I was supposed to be this morning--whatever it was I said I would be doing--I was standing at the edge of the field--I was hurrying through my own soul, opening its dark doors--I was leaning out;I was listening." obviously she wasn't talking about literally hanging out her window, but it was exploring things in her mind about everything. Meaning.

The Hobbit

My first impressions of the novel "The Hobbit" was that it was going to be some kind of magical adventure, starting out slow and then as the story goes on it will get more and more interesting, I'm waiting for something big to happen in the story line. I don't think I'll get that in the very first chapter though. I suppose I am enjoying this book, it's not the worst thing I've ever read, that's for sure. So far, I haven't made any connections with this novel. This book is different from what I would usually read on my own.

Drama seven

Today was the day that we finished watching "Romeo and Juliet". I liked it, I thought that it was a pretty good movie. The nudity part was a little weird, I don't exactly want to look at the 'northern region' of girls. It was odd. Ha. Anyway, it was good. Romeo could have waited at least like five or ten minutes, and Juliet would have woken up, and they could have lived together, but I guess if that would have happend it would throw the story off, and it would not have been such a good story. Forbidden love ending in death.

Drama six

During this week of our drama section in english, we played some games on the same days there were performances. I think they are very ..interesting and different, but I'd rather do that than have to write an essay. Today, Mariah came up with the games that we would play, and they were kind of silly, but they were fun.

Drama Five

On Tuesday, Mariah Jade and I performed our Romeo and Juliet scene, which was the balcony scene where the two of them tell eachother how much they love eachother. During our performances I had to read off of the entire script. I messed up a little, because I accidentally read one of Romeo's lines and didn't realize it until I was halfway through it, so I just kept going. It wasn't too great, if I could redo it I would. Especially because I had my back to the audience almost the entire time. Oops.

Drama four.

During the time we have been spending on the play "Romeo and Juliet" I have learned things, such as the way people would talk back them, using words like "thy". We are also doing scenes that we will perform in class. My partner is Mariah Jade, and we chose to do the balcony scene. I play Juliet and she is my Romeo, it's pretty fun. We thought that we would put a modern kind of twist to the scene, so we'll see how that works out. It's interesting.

Drama three

This week we have been watching the movie "Romeo and Juliet"
I enjoy it, the word choicing they use can have two different meanings, and it's kind of funny.
I think their love is cute, but I don't quite understand it. Only because they see each other and fall in love? They don't even take the time to get to know each other, all the little details like whats their favorite color or something, they just say their in love, but can you truely love someone without knowing them? I suppose that would be called "Love at first sight". I think it's more infatuation than anything, I don't get it.

Drama two

I think since we first started doing this play, I have grown a little, in understanding the context and getting more into character.
My favorite part is the activities we do, like the "dating game".

Romeo & Juliet

Romeo and Juliet

Mariah Jade and I are doing our scenes together,
and I like running through it with her, it is a lot of fun.
The activities that we do for our warm ups ...are interesting, but fun.
Something we don't do very often I think it's informational,
to learn how to get more into character and be more comfortable.

Romeo and Juliet topics.

Three topics- Death, conflict, and love.

In the play "Romeo and Juliet" by William Shakespeare, he writes about these two characters falling in love with eachother. But in the end Romeo kills himself because he believes that his love is dead. In truth she is still alive ...

State the theme succinctly.

when I watch you wrapped up like garbage sitting, surrounded by the smell of too old potato peels or when I watch you in your old man's shoes with the little toe cut outsitting, waiting for your mind like next week's grocery I say when I watch you you wet brown bag of a woman who used to be the best looking gal in Georgia used to be called the Georgia Rose I stand up through your destruction I stand up

What is poetry?

To me poetry is a way of expressing your true feelings toward ...anything really. It's a fun way to get out any strong bad emotions such as anger or sadness. I like to think of it more as a therapy, a release, and maybe even a whole different world you can escape to when the real one is too much to handle. With poetry you can write about anything you want, there is no limit to how you want to express yourself.

Dream Deferred

The title of the poem is "Dream Deferred" by Langston Hughes.
I think his purpose for writing this piece was to show that people don't take time and effort to achieve their dreams. In my opinion Langston Hughes is trying to point out that maybe people think that they shouldn't even try because they won't reach their goals and they dwell on the bad. "Maybe it just sags like a heavy load." I don't really know at this point ....

My personal connection to this poem is that I tend to put things off if I feel I cannot accomplish something. Which is not the best decision, you should try your best at everything you do. I think it's trying to say never give up on your dreams because the regret will be on your shoulders forever.
